At Flagler RAMS, our mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive space for members to meet, connect, and build meaningful relationships. We strive to foster an environment where people from all walks of life can come to learn, grow, and enjoy all aspects of model aviation
As a member of Flagler RAMS, you'll have access to exclusive events, airshows, community events and fundraisers, computer based training software, licensed radio controlled model instructors, training aircraft, as well as daily use of our 600ft prepared runway.
In the mid-1980s, a few people with a common interest in radio-controlled model aircraft came together and embarked on a search for a space that give them the ability to take their hobby to the next level. At the time, the nearest flying fields were in Deland and Daytona Beach, a long drive from the Palm Coast area. They approached George Dance, the owner of a large piece of land on Old Dixie Highway in Flagler County. Mr. Dance agreed to allow the use of a portion of his land for flying small radio controlled aircraft. This was the beginning of our club allowing people from all walks of life the liberty to enjoy this hobby. A few years later, Mr. Dance had an opportunity to sell fill dirt from the site for the building of the new Flagler Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. It was an offer he couldn’t refuse. So the Flying club would need to find a new location. Fortunately, the County landfill on Old Kings Road was being closed-down, which presented a fantastic opportunity for flyers to pursue the idea of using it as a flying field. Negotiations with the County were successful, and on September 16, 1995, the Flagler RAMS held their official dedication ceremony on their new field. In the years to follow, facilities were, built, the runway was established, and the club that we all know and love today came into fruition. To this day, the relationship with the County remains strong, allowing for the home of our hobby to continue to flourish and grow with the needs of the ever growing community.
